Travelling Chart Advice

Hello all

How are you all?  Not a lot of news from here!  The kiddies are on mid term break until Thursday.  Tthis evening I submitted my essay to the Open University for my Psychology course! Phew glad that's out of the way so I can do something serious like stitching lol!

Anyway the main reason for my post is  see what the rules are for starting off a Travelling pattern.

Plus rules for sending it around.

l know each person stitches and passes the chart onto next chosen stitcher.

I would love to start one off but not sure if I'd be stepping on anyone's toes so to speak!!

Grateful for advice

Love me
xxxxx

This is the chart I was thinking of

using for travelling pattern

  2. That chart would be great for a Travelling Pattern. You wouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes by starting one.

Here is a link to a post on my blog with the rules for a Travelling Pattern that I participated in.

  5. Make sure you include a card or some space on the chart to write down where the chart comes from (your name) and ask everyone who receives the chart to write their name and where they're from as well. Maybe you can ask to be contacted when someone receives the chart... or make sure you can follow the travels by only sending the chart to people who have blogs... Maybe ask that the chart returns to you after a year... make a collage of pictures from every stitched item... possibilities are endless :)

  9. I agree with every comment except sending it only to an active blogger. I've stitched two traveling patterns and promptly passed them on to another stitcher who had requested it when I did, plus I let that first blogger know that I was done and where it was headed next. It's fun so go for it!

  10. I think you can pretty much make your own rules , it's your pattern.
I've seen a couple of different versions ,and stitched one which I really enjoyed.
you could ask everyone who is interested to contact you and have it sent only to those who sign up, or just let it roam free . There is a chance that it may disappear in the postal system at some point , so you need to decide if you want it back at some point and if so either limit the time of the travels , or the number of people .
    Enjoy !

  12. There's 2 main ways - the first is to ask everyone to sign up in advance so you know where it's going and that it'll come back to you. The second is to let each blogger choose the next person from their followers. That way you get to meet lots of new people as each blogger has new-to-you followers.

I love Travelling Patterns, I did three in one year!

    1. Thanks Jo! I think I'll just let it loose on its travels and see where it ends up :-)

  13. What a great chart to choose for a Traveling Pattern! I did one of these last year. Each blogger that got it would have a drawing on her blog to choose the next person. But I also like the idea of having everyone sign up on your blog so you know who it is going to next. I like the idea of including a card with the chart for everyone to write their info on it.

  15. ok there are two ways to do it ... one do a blog drawing and stipulate it has to be an active blogger so that folks can follow the progress and try again to get to stitch it .....
the other is to ask for names and do a list of participants so that you know exactly who has the chart and where it is to go to next .... especially if you would like some history of its travels (usually a card that folks who have stitched it can sign / pop a wee bit of detail on it of how they did it ) and the last person sends it back to you ....
have done it both ways and only one has gone missing and that was to South Africa ... but we still have hope that it will turn up and I can actually get to stitch it after it has got there and then to me ...lol hope that helps :) love mouse xxxxxx

  16. I think everyone is free to start a Travelling Pattern! the more, the merrier ;) heheheh I'm waiting for my first TP, I joined a few months ago, still waiting for my turn :)

  17. The one I just did the only "rules" as such were to promise you did actually send it on and it was to go to someone with a blog who updates regularly. In the one I did there was a list of all the people who had taken part - it was fun to see where it had been around the world!

If you do start one then count me in :D x
