S is for ... #atozchallenge

A to Z Challenge 2016

S is for ... Sewing can be so complicated!

Which is something I am getting the hang of ... thank goodness because I am really enjoying myself and the fact that Katie and Cara are really starting to take such an interest!

Cara got so excited today when she came home from school because the brown buttons she wanted had arrived!!  She will be 6 years old in June, and from my childhood memories I would have got excited about a chocolate bar or the a friend coming over to play!!

SEW many things needed ... Sew many thing bought and no doubt sew many more things to buy!!

All I can say is that its all just SO worth it!

Satin Stitch
Seam Ripper
Scissors
Shank Button
Spool of threads

Best of all ... STASH!  You cannot beat a good stash of sewing stuff!!

Bye for now

  1. I had a sewing machine but never figured out how to work it so I gave it to my stepdaughter. I'm not so good with the sewing!!! Whatever I need to do, I'll do by hand or just use that fusible tape that you melt with the iron. Or Liquid Stitch.

  3. When I was young, I took a class in embroidery at the local department store. This was back in the day when most department stores had a fabric/notions department. I expanded into needlepoint (though strangely never into knitting which is so hot now) and also learned how to sew my own clothes - small tasks by hand as well as entire garments using a sewing machine. I lost interest as the years passed, but I'm glad I can still apply those skills when needed. Handy to know.
