H is for ... #atozchallenge

A-Z Challenger 2016

H is for Hemming or maybe  ... Heather!
Which is something Heather cannot sew straight on her sewing machine lol

Sewing a hem
(image from google)
There are so many versions of hemming!  Who would of thought it!!  I'm still new to all of this so here is a link!  If you figure it out please give me a shout and teach me lol

I did machine sew a red bag each for the girls, which I am very pleased with myself but the sewing a more like a wavy line in some places lol

Bags that I made :D
I love to look up on You Tube or Google to watch videos on how to do something.
I love to learn new things!!  The internet is a wonderful world of information on anything!!

This weekend Katie, Cara and I are having a crafting weekend, as my mum bought the girls a sewing machine between them for their birthdays (early present!!) ... we cannot wait, so I had better get off my blog and start getting all our equipment ready!! The girls are just too excited to wait any longer lol!!

Today is also James' birthday ... he is 20 years young today ... no longer a teenager :D

Have a great day all and many thanks for reading my blog!

Many hugs
Heather

G is for ... #atozchallenge

A-Z Challenge 2016

G is for Glasses or maybe even a magnifying glass
which aids us to see our fabulous crafting skills even better :D

Sewing on my machine
wearing my Glasses!

Which is something that I need ...
otherwise I can't see a blooming stitch lol

The reason why I thought if G is for Glasses was because today Cara collected her new glasses from Specsavers! She has waited a very long week to collect them haha! Specaavers had a great offer on so she ended up with 3 pairs of glasses AND a pair of prescription sunglasses! She is one lucky girl!!

Cara modeling all of her glasses!
Cara did point out all the things she couldn't do without her glasses then announced all the stitching and sewing I couldn't do without mine!! Then she made my to-do list longer with more requestes haha!!

So, thank you my wee girl for the G post idea!!

Bye for now

F is for ... #atozchallenge

A-Z Challenge 2016

F is for finish
Which is something I like to do!!

For many years I would just frame my cross stitch or put it in a draw when it was completed!! Then I discovered the 'Art of Finishing' if my cross stitch into Ornaments (Ornies) or hangers :) One time I got adventurous and framed Conor's Karate Dog with his certificate :) Conor adores it :)

Karate Dog

Ornie for a gift

There is a vast amount of ideas on-line for turning your stitching into something special :)

I really enjoy making lovely items :)

Today I am making Cara a cushion using fabric, felt and buttons with just a hint I'd stitching! Let's hope I can finish it off nice :)

Thank you once again for stopping by! If you are a new visitor then please leave your blog/Pinterest/Twitter links so I can pop over to visit you :) Please feel free to follow my blog too if you wish :)

E is for ... #atozchallenge

A-Z Challenge 2016

E is for Embellishments
Which is something I LOVE to do!

Look at her sparkly dress!
She is Gorjuss!!

I really enjoy add the little elements of beads, buttons, ribbons or any other sort of embellishments that really adds the personal touch :)

I never use to as I always thought I might spoil the look of the stitching or sewing! Now my eyes are wide open to the wonderful world of 'yummy things'!

Needless to say that my children always love looking though my embellishments and enjoy making suggestions :)

This is a Biscornu (French Pincushion) I stitched and embellished with Christmas charms and bells :)

A jingly stitched Christmas ornament

A robin with beaded berries

Embellished hanging ornie
Embellishments can be whatever you fancy! Just go with with what you like and prefer!

I hope you liked this post!
See you tomorrow!

D is for ... #atozchallenge

A-Z Challenge 2016

D is for Darning
Which is something I never do!!

"There's a hole in my sock Mummy!!"
Do you darn your socks? This is something that I have not done nor was it done when I was a child! Even though my Grandmother was very creative, (which skipped a generation), buying a new pair of socks seemed to be easier than finding 'the' needle ... At times buying a new pair of socks would have been quicker too!!

After looking into this darning lark up I will admit it's a complicated looking process ... Not just a simple case of sewing up a hole!!

Now I can see why buying a new pair was quicker and easier than finding 'the' needle!!

I hope you found this interesting ... Next time you have a hole in your sock you can say "darn" out loud but will you be saying it in
Annoyance or because you're going to get your darning needle out?

Thanks for reading and I hope you are enjoying my posts!

Bye for now

C is for ... #atozchallenge

A - Z Challenge 2016

C is for Cotton
Which is used to stitch fabric together

I am a cross stitcher at heart and we call our cotton 'thread' or if you are from another part if the world you may say 'floss' :)

No matter were u live it all means the same ... The stringy thing which we adore!! :)

Cotton on reels has become a new passion for me over the past few months as I have become a machine sewer since my parents bought me a sewing machine for Christmas :D

My cotton collection is small but my ambition is big :)

This weekend I turned a picture that Katie drew into a cushion for her!! We are both delighted with the result lol ... Yes you guessed it, now the kids are drawing like crazy and my small cotton stash will soon be no more :( lol

Katie made a drawing then
a cushion kit!!
Ice-cream all sewn up
According to Katie's 'pattern'!!
Ice-cream cushion all stitched
and ready to be stuffed!
Thats all for cotton ... Mmmm cotton candy floss is now in my head!!

Sorry for the short post - my computer went down again and I am trying to control my kindle touch screen and buttons ... Its harder than it looks! lol

Have a happy Monday
Hugs

B is for ... #atozchallenge

A - Z Challenge 2016

B is for Button
Which are useful for all kinds of things

Buttons can be very useful by helping to keep your clothes fastened so they don't fall off!!

Or made to look elegant and pretty and be an accessory to your desirable fashion!

Early Buttons

Buttons of today

Even chocolate buttons!!

Best of all my collection of buttons ... which I hope everyone ate plenty of over the Easter Holidays!

The History of Buttons is a fascinating read!  Who would of thought there are so many buttons, old and new, in the world! There are even Button collectors!  yes well can all say we have a stash of buttons, or the family tin of buttons that has been passed down from generation to generation!

I have my own little stash of buttons in a Kilner Jar!  Goodness knows that I will never use them all but over the last few years I have been given many and bought the rest!  Well how could I resist! Plus it is lovely to have a choice when embellishing my projects :D  That's my excuse and I am sticking with it!!

My Kilner Jar
Still room for some more buttons though!

Buttons and Ribbons
Standing proud on display!

Many thanks for stopping by!

Have fun!

Heather
